中央民族大学舞蹈学院的民族民间舞蹈，无论是课堂教学、剧目创作还是舞台表演均在国内外处于领先地位，并取得了丰硕成果。如：出版了《东方神韵》少数民族舞蹈系列教材；创作了180余部舞蹈作品，其中最具代表性的如舞蹈《奔腾》、《长白祥云》、《牛背摇篮》、《红河谷-序》、《东归英雄》等；在全国历届“桃李杯”舞蹈比赛、中国舞蹈“荷花奖”比赛以及国内外其它各类舞蹈大赛中，获创作奖142项、表演奖224项。

山东艺术学院舞蹈学院前身为山东艺术学院舞蹈系，成立于2001年12月，2006年改为山东艺术学院舞蹈学院。现有中专生34人，本科生 346人，研究生16人。教职员工56人。有舞蹈表演、舞蹈编导、舞蹈学三个本科专业。舞蹈学为院级重点学科。舞蹈学院在办学规模、教学管理、师资力量、硬件设施、专业设置等方面正处在一个蓬勃发展的阶段，有着巨大的发展潜力和强大的发展后劲。
