罗伯特·麦基的叙事理论经济、实用,贴近创作实际;简洁、明快,揭示了好莱坞电影在编剧层面的许多奥秘。但是,麦基的叙事理论,疏漏与缺憾也是明显存在的,概而言之有三:在材质分析中,强调矛盾冲突,无视题旨蕴意;在谋篇布局中,注重动作设计,忽视情感铺陈;在故事编创中,只谈如何编写,不说编写什么。据此笔者认为,麦基的电影叙事理论零散、琐碎,以偏盖全,离完整的理论体系尚有很大的差距。
