系统鉴定和分析了棉花SUN家族蛋白，通过病毒诱导的敲除和CRISPR/cas9介导的GbSUN5敲除，发现尽管花粉活力仍然正常，但是其败育率较高。本研究结果表明：SUN3和SUN5在生物学功能上存在差异，在生殖发育中发挥重要作用。
