计量经济学是经济学的一个分支学科，于1926年由挪威经济学家Frish首先提出。1930年正式成立了计量经济学会，并在1933年创刊了《Econometrica》刊物，标志着计量经济学的诞生。以20世纪70年代为界，计量经济学的发展可以分成两个阶段，之前是经典计量经济学，之后是现代计量经济学。70年代以后，计量经济学的发展大体上有三大领域，微观计量经济学、非参数计量经济学和时间序列计量经济学。
