茶树为多年生常绿木本植物,自然条件下以自交不亲和为主,因此具有丰富的遗传多样性。安徽省产茶历史悠久,茶区主要分布在长江南北的皖南黄山地区和皖西大别山地区,是国内少有的兼具南北气候带特点的产茶地区,孕育了丰富的茶树种质资源,同时茶树种质资源收集、保存和利用需要构建核心种质。然而安徽省茶树种质资源遗传多样性研究甚少,核心种质尚未构建。
